Brave things to do after catching your partner being unfaithful

The number one reason for most breakups is cheating. Most of the singles at the speed dating Houston event have experienced it. It is the kind of betrayal that feels like someone plunged a knife right through your heart. The moment you learn of it, lots of things cross your mind. You wonder what went wrong or if that’s the end. Sure it hurts but you need to get a hold of yourself. So what do you do after catching your partner being unfaithful?

Take some space

This is a terrible situation for you. You definitely need to think with a clear head but obviously, at the moment, it’s not possible. Take this time to cry, sleep, scream, stress eat, or whatever makes you feel better. You gonna need all the strength for the next step. You don’t need to do anything about it immediately.  

Call your close friends

You don’t have to go through it all alone. Reach out to your close friends for emotional support. Call someone neutral, someone who won’t encourage you to do something crazy or fill your head with absurd ideas.

Understand it had nothing to do with you

People cheat for different reasons but it never is about you. It’s about them. Most of the cheaters do it out of lust and the flings don’t go anywhere. So don’t torture yourself with blame questions of what-ifs or what you did wrong. It simply tells about who they are as an individual.

Don’t think of revenge

“Two wrongs don’t make a right.” at this point you really are hurting and all you want is to get back, but it won’t hurt them as much as you want it to. Acting out of anger may cause you to regret later. Choose to be the bigger person you will address the issue when the time is right.

Take it one day at a time

This is the time you feel like your world has come to an end, maybe even think you’ll never recover. Dealing with all that at once is hard but you can take one step at a time. As you try to look for a way forward you’ll feel more at ease as the days pass, then you can pick up from there.

Take care of yourself

You may be going through shock and stress-related physical changes at the moment but it will pass. Stick to your healthy diets, take daily showers, exercise, drink lots of water, have fun and anything that is all about you.

Avoid involving extended family or the kids

When you decide to move past the whole situation and maybe work it out, your family won’t forgive or forget. They will still hold on to the incident maybe refer to it from time to time. That will come to bite you back later on when you least expect it. In case you have kids, they will feel stuck as they don’t know which side to choose. It’s unnecessary as it will mess with their heads. If it’s possible keep them out of it and deal with as adults.
